Challenges.
District 5 serves more than 65,000 residents across diverse neighborhoods, with high demand for clear, timely information about city services, public programs, and local initiatives. The office needed a stronger digital presence to keep residents informed, increase participation in community events, and communicate effectively during heightened public attention and leadership transitions.
At the same time, communications had to reach residents across multiple channels, from social media and email to in-person events and local media, requiring a coordinated, multi-platform approach.

I built and led a comprehensive communications strategy spanning social media, newsletters, website updates, multimedia storytelling, and community event coverage.
I managed a 6,000-subscriber email list, regularly sending updates about district initiatives, city services, and upcoming events. In addition, I supported the Commissioner’s public presence by writing speeches, creating presentations, updating the district website, and producing multimedia content, including photo and video coverage of community events.
I also coordinated messaging during high-visibility moments that required alignment between the Commissioner’s office, city departments, media outlets, and the Mayor’s office. Major initiatives I supported included Back-to-School celebrations, Thanksgiving food drives, Christmas donation programs, and community town halls, handling promotion, messaging, and on-site media coverage.

Highlights.
The strategy significantly expanded the district’s digital presence and strengthened connections with residents. Analytics-based content planning and consistent storytelling drove measurable growth across socials, resulting in a 1,100% increase in reach, an 86% increase in profile visits, and an 86.9% increase in followers.
Email communications also became a key channel for reaching residents, with regular updates sent to a 6,000-person subscriber list about programs, services, and opportunities to participate in community initiatives.
Communications support also helped drive strong participation in district programs. Large-scale events such as the Back-to-School celebration drew more than 2,000 attendees and generated coverage in multiple local media outlets, while ongoing promotion of town halls, food drives, and holiday donation programs increased awareness and engagement across District 5.
