Challenges.

Challenges.

In 2018, Impulse Lima's main challenge was navigating a conservative city like Lima, Peru, while discussing "taboo" topics like HIV, STIs, drug use and abuse, responsible sex practices, and more, as a newly created organization without a clear digital direction.

In 2021, Impulse Orlando's main challenge was reintroducing the brand after massive internal changes to a city that was fed up with canned messages, repetitive discourse, and that knew the organization for catering only to a certain segment of the community.

As a volunteer, I took the lead on creating the online persona for Impulse Lima, opting for a real, personal tone as we navigated issues not often discussed in Peru. With high-contrast images, bright colors, and a voice that resonated with how the community speaks in Lima, we had a great reception by our audiences. We grew to over 10K followers organically in the first two years, and participated in several events, activations, and video campaigns.

As the volunteer Marketing Director for Impulse Orlando, I had the privilege of leading creative campaigns such as Please Say Gay, Party and Play, Rally for Your Rights, among others. With a newly instituted board of directors, we pivoted the brand toward a visual redesign and a revision of our communication, adopting an inclusive, people-first voice and tone. I spearheaded the move to vertical video as the go-to, managed ad spend, and coordinated with volunteers and directors to execute the day-to-day MarComms tasks.
